US retail giant Sears in big trouble, what does that mean for Aussie retailers?

When a retailer goes from 3500 stores to around 700 in 8 years and is now close to bankruptcy, it doesn’t look good for other retailers. Sears has been a US icon for over 100 years and is blaming Amazon for its rapid decline.

It sounds quite similar to the road that Myer and DJ’s are on, who both have been struggling over the past few years to turn around flagging sales. So, if a massive retailer like Sears can’t make it, is there any hope for Myer and DJ’s here in Australia, particularly with the presence of Amazon?

Roger discusses with 4KZ’s breakfast announcer Glenn Johns, how this US giants demise could affect Australian retailers and what regional retailers can do to stand out in their community.
