Why buying local for Christmas is a good move

Interview with Triple M’s Pablo Miller.

Deliveries of products are coming under increasing pressure due to the surge in online orders, much of this due to the extended lockdowns. Longer delays are expected as one of the main delivery providers, Australia Post, paused recent deliveries due to 500 staff forced into isolation, which will only add to the backlog of products awaiting delivery. With less flights arriving and delays in shipping, this points to a perfect storm of long waits for products ordered online. The advice is to start Christmas shopping early and it would make much more sense for customers to buy local and avoid unnecessary delays. This would also provide a boost for local suppliers struggling with the ongoing lockdowns and will further support local jobs.
