Now the Aussie stores have thrown their toys out of the cot

It’s another sad day for retail with the announcement that Toys R Us has gone into liquidation in Australia. With 44 stores and 700 staff members’ future on the line, is this the end of this once big player? It doesn’t look good when their US counterpart is in liquidation and looking to wind down 700 stores.

Is this just another retailer biting the dust because of the likes of Amazon and other online retailers or is there more at play here? What can Aussie retailers do to stem the flow of stores biting the dust over recent months?
