On job follow up is critical to the success of any training program. If there is no follow up, or as we call it on job coaching, most trainees will simply revert back to their old habits rendering any training they have received redundant.
In fact sales guru Neil Rackham of Huthwaite, through research uncovered that as much as 87% of the new skills/behaviours learnt disappeared without on job coaching.
That is a massive amount, which proves to us that training without on job coaching is a waste of time and money.
At the Retail Solution our focus is on providing you with results not just in the short term, but long term. That is why we focus on training your store managers in the skills to coach their team members and your area managers in how to coach the coach. By providing your area managers with this next level of coaching (coach the coach), they can ensure their store managers are using the proper coaching process with their team on a regular basis. They can also provide assistance to store managers who are finding the coaching more challenging or have team members who aren’t responding as well as they could.
We do this by following up the day after we have run our coaching course in selected stores with your area managers. We spend time with each area manager training them in the additional skills of coaching a coach.
This helps to lock in the positive behaviour changes that bring about both short and long term results.
